personality
Amelia has an insatiable curiosity, which has caused much strife in her life. Her nose is usually pressed to a book or her hand wrapped around a quill. She is constantly in pursuit of knowledge and it seems to have a subtle maddening effect to her mind. She also seems to have some knowledge of what happened in The Forbidden District, but is incredibly tight-lipped about it. In spite of her fondness for knowledge, Amelia urges caution in her comrades and even her enemies when they pursue it.
Amelia is very much a gray witch in her ambitions. She is neither good nor evil; capable of demonstrating great humanity and, in the same breath, cutting it down. Her desire to better her coven is genuine, but her methods are sometimes questionable.

history
Amelia was born to aristocratic parents, which is a likely explanation for her poised demeanor, interest in politics, and fondness for frivolous, expensive things. She was raised in the Garden District of Haven City at her parents' villa. It became apparent early on in her life that she was a witch, like her mother. However, her mother had never invested in her abilities, nor taken an interest in them. The opposite was clear for Amelia and so her parents invested in a teacher.
The albino girl developed a strong admiration for her teacher. He took her to the Inbetween Place, showed her the wilds, and all else that this curious world had to offer. He cultivated her abilities and praised her ambition. She studied under him faithfully until her abilities began to outgrow his own. He was a man of discipline and morality. She was a woman of feverish curiosity, towing a moral line that made him uneasy.
When Nowheresville fell at the height of conflict between humans and the supernaturals, that same prejudice infected Haven City. Amelia's mother was pried from her home and burned at the stake in the center of The Market. Amelia lashed out at the civilians with her magic, sewing an even deeper fear of supernaturals in the humans. Her teacher talked her down from her destruction and urged her to leave the city with him. She declined his offer.
Amelia acquired a workshop in the factory region of what is now known as The Forbidden District. Who her employer was or what she was hired to do were shrouded in mystery. Her teacher is the only person she confided in her research and whenever he came to visit, they would argue late into the night. Then, one night, he disappeared and The Forbidden District was sealed off without explanation. Amelia abandoned her workshop and settled into a remote part of the woods where she would later establish a coven.
